Technical Math Completers
The School Board celebrated the first Springdale Public School students to earn National Center for Construction Education and Research technical math credit through a new curriculum option.
The NCCER works to develop a safe and productive workforce by creating standardized training and credentialing for the construction and industrial maintenance fields.
The first Springdale students to earn the technical math credit include:

Students who complete the curriculum and subsequent test earn a math credit, said Kelley Williamson, district Curriculum and Technical Education coordinator.
Workforce Development
Springdale Schools has 220 juniors and seniors participating in work-based learning.
Work-based learning allows students who are on track to graduate an opportunity to obtain school credit while earning and learning through a part- time job.
The distrcit has increased work-based learning more than 217% from the fall of 2022 to the spring of 2023, Williamson said.
"We all need a career, and there's lots of different ways to get there," she said. "We're excited about what's happening."

C.R. Crawford's School Person of the Month Recognition
Becky Gosnell of C.R. Crawford Construction recognized Rodney Ellis, workforce director, as the School Person of the Month.
C.R. Construction recognizes a talented and dedicated teacher, staff member, board member or volunteer in an Arkansas school monthly. Each selected district superintendent identifies an individual who exemplifies recognition-worthy traits.
Athletic Recognitions
Basketball and wrestling student athletes were likewise honored by the School Board for their outstanding performances this school year.

Athletic Transition
Superintendent Dr. Jared Cleveland presented Wayne Stehlik, athletic director, with two awards at the April School Board meeting.
Stehlik was honored with an Award of Merit from the Arkansas High School Athletic Administrators Association and the 2023 State Award of Merit from the National Interscholastic Athlete Administrators Association.
"It is nice to be recognized by your peers," Stehlik said.
Stehlik will transition in August to become the Director of Development for Athletics, a new position for the district.
EAST Conference
Education Accelerated by Service and Technology facilitators Brittany Berry of Helen Tyson Middle School and Josh Worthy of Sonora Elementary School shared information on the school district's performance March 14-16 at the National EAST Conference in Hot Springs.
More than 240 students, 25 facilitators and a support team of parents, administrators and chaperones represented Springdale Public Schools at the conference, showcasing over 125 student-driven community projects.
Herobotics Update
Michael Tapee, Herobotics director, provided the School Board with an update on the Hellstern Middle School Herobotics program.
"We have expanded again this year, and we now have three teams composing the robotics program, the Red, Gold and Silver teams," Tapee said.
The Gold team was invited to compete against teams from all over the world at the Western Edge Invitational in Long Beach, Calif., in May.
The Red team is the state champion for the second consecutive year and the third time in the program's history. The team will travel to Houston, Texas, from April 19-22 to compete in the 2023 FIRST Championship. Some 108 teams from 64 countries will participate in the competition.
"We will be the sole representative of the state of Arkansas there for FIRST Lego League," Tapee said.
Silver team members were likewise celebrated as qualifiers in the state competition.
Social Worker of the Year
Damon Donnell, Student Services director, honored Brittni Helms, Sonora Middle School and Sonora Elementary School, as the 2022-23 Social Worker of the Year for Springdale Public Schools.
Brittni is a perfect example of the Springdale social worker vision and mission. She works diligently with our students, families, staff and community everyday to ensure they are given the best supports and resources. Not only is she an advocate for students and families, she is also an advocate for all, and I really do mean all, according to the award nomination. She is always in the lead when it comes to her role and always makes herself available for anyone who needs help.
"I couldn't be prouder of her," Donnell said.
