Springdale SOAR students participated in a local Amazing Shake competition Feb. 27 at The Jones Center.

Filling the gap between the school day and workday, the SOAR afterschool program provides a safe and affordable place for students to learn, build relationships and practice skills for future success.

Students who participated in the Amazing Shake competition practiced professional skills that placed an emphasis on teaching students manners, discipline, respect and professional conduct.

Participants learned the nuances of professional human interaction as they are taught skills, such as how giving a proper handshake, “working a room,” giving a successful interview and remaining composed under pressure.

The Amazing Shake prepares students to present themselves exceptionally well for opportunities today, as well as those that will come in the future. The competition consists of case-scenario stations set up around the event space that every student must pass through while exercising etiquette, composure and savoir-faire.

Top performers advance to the next level of challenges until there is ultimately one overall global champion!

The Northwest Arkansas Amazing Shake event will be April 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Jones Center. The Global Amazing Shake will be March 28-30 at the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Ga.

The Amazing Shake Competition is open to any student in the fourth-eighth grade during the 2024-2025 school year. Schools are encouraged to have local Amazing Shake competitions and to send their top performers to Global.
