FCCLA students at George Junior High School spent weeks planning, organizing, and collecting donations to present to both Arkansas Children's Northwest Hospital and the Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter. These students arranged a "Penny Wars" type of competition between Advisory classes, offering individually wrapped ice cream bars as incentive for the most funds raised. They designed a flyer to be distributed around school, and placed one in each of the jars to help students and teachers understand the benefits of their donations. They also provided a website for online donations. Students created videos for morning announcements to encourage students to "be the change" and help children in our community. On the last day of school before the winter break, students collected the jars, and counted the donations. Finally, GJHS FCCLA students designed a Thank you card for the classes that raised the most money, and delivered ice cream bars to each student in the classes.
Overall, the group raised $401.68! This amount was divided into two Visa gift cards, and presented at each location Saturday, December 19, 2020.
George Junior High School's Admin and Faculty want to wish everyone a very, merry Holiday season! This school year has been a challenge for everyone, but together we've pulled through and made it to the end of 2020! We hope that everyone has a joyous, restful, and safe winter break! We will see everyone back on January 4th! Happy Holidays!
